Most people think they have to change careers, change their husbands, move, have a different body, or have more money to have a life they love. But that’s because we’ve been sold a lie. We’ve been taught that if we aren’t happy, we can get or buy happiness by changing our circumstances. And that just isn’t true. Instead, stop fantasizing about life being better when you have those things and instead get to work appreciating the life you have right now. That’s the fastest way to create a life you love.
Most of us have things, people, and experiences in our lives right now that we desperately wanted 2, 5, or 10 years ago. But now that we have them we take them for granted, forget we wanted them, and instead we focus on wanting more or wanting something different.

Now don’t misinterpret this. I’m all about dreaming bigger, pursuing our desires, and creating more.
But when you’re able to do that from a place of loving the things you have and the way your life is right now it makes this journey so much more enjoyable. Because when we appreciate what we have, we don’t need more. We’re happy and grateful for who we are and what we have.
This opens us up and allows us to receive more from a place of true appreciation and gratitude instead of a place of greed, neediness, and desperation. This is how you create a life you love.

If you feel like you’ve slipped into a place where you’re really focused on what you don’t have and you’re wanting more and more without appreciating what you have, here’s a little exercise for you.
Grab a pen and paper and take some time to journal on this question:
What do you have in your life right now that you love, appreciate, and feel so grateful for?
Now get to work bringing those back to life by focusing on nurturing, caring for, appreciating and loving them.
And watch how you change your life without getting anything more.
